ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Solo aging is a hot topic in the news these days. That's no surprise!

A recent Kiplinger Personal Finance article noted that an estimated 15 million Americans 55 and up are growing old on their own without a spouse or children they can count on for support. When you include people who live alone, those who are estranged from their families or can’t readily count on them or other close relatives as they age, the numbers swell to about one-third of the 50+ population. Add in those who are married or partnered without kids, who can easily become a solo ager at some point down the road—and those aging with an incapacitated spouse or partner and no kids—and the numbers rise even higher.

Many of our 50+ Mile Hi'ers are or will be impacted by solo aging too, so Sue Ronnenkamp, secretary of the Foundation board and an expert on aging well and aging solo, is offering this workshop in April.

Attendees will learn three keys for successful solo aging that are typically not mentioned or zeroed in on in articles based on this topic. There will be time for attendees to discuss Sue’s recommendations and to share about changes and action steps to proact for later life.

Don’t miss out on this important learning and connecting opportunity whether you attend for yourself or a loved family member, friend, or neighbor.

This workshop is sponsored by the Mile Hi Church Foundation.
