Join Dr. Michelle Medrano and Rev. Josh Reeves in this casual introduction to spiritual practice.
This mini-class is designed for those who are new to spiritual practice. Whether you're brand new to the idea, intimidated and don't know where to start, struggling with being consistent, or merely curious, this self-paced, twenty-eight day class might be what you need to begin a life-long practice that will serve you in numerous ways.
The term "spiritual practice" can mean many things to many people. Different cultures and different faith traditions have different practices. In Science of Mind and Spirit, we believe that our true, eternal essence is spiritual in nature. We may spend much of our time focused on our daily activities and situations, yet beneath all of the coming and going of daily life, we believe we are co-creating our life as an expression of the One Source out of which all things arise. Different people have different names for this One Source (God, Spirit, the Sacred, etc.)
Spiritual practice refers to those actions and activities that help one become more centered and present with one's life and simultaneously see beneath the business of "normal life" to remember our true nature: we are compassionate, prosperous, supported, whole, loved and loving.
This is an introductory class designed for those who are relatively new to the idea of spiritual practice. If you are absolutely brand new, this is a great place to start.
Dr. Michelle and Rev. Josh focus on four practices:
- Appreciation
- Meditation
- Forgiveness
- Affirmative Prayer
Once you enroll, you can begin with the first module on Appreciation. You are encouraged to do each practice every day for seven days. After that, the next module will become available for you to focus on during that week. Each module provides a brief introduction to the topic and includes a five to ten-minute guided practice which you are encouraged to do every day for at least seven days. We include an audio file of the practice that you can download and listen to on any audio device that plays .MP3 files.
Twenty-eight days is what we're asking of you. Consistency matters. If you're willing to commit to following this course for 28-days, you will be well supported to explore more advanced spiritual practices with even greater ongoing benefits. Once you have committed to the habit of turning your attention inward on a daily basis, anything is possible.
